Grad seasons was CRAZY this year … so has family sessions, and sacred sessions, and golf tourneys …. busy busy busy.

But let’s get right to it … meet the Bozzard family.   And the star of today’s post, Kyra.

SHE WAS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING.   I will admit, I was pushing down my “envy” LOL.   I sure didn’t look like her at my grad … but what was even so much more stunning was her demeanour, her gentleness, her wit.    Doug, Rishana … you-done-a-great-job.

We started the session with Rishana presenting a little grad gift … well, two actually.

Honesty.   WELL DONE.

And how smart was this??  Kyra killed it with her choice in shoes …

There was a huge field out back behind their property — full of buttercups.  That was where we planned the session, so that’s where we headed.

S E R I O U S LY.

… I took advantage of the whole family being there.   First up, Kyra and her mom – Rishana.

Then, Doug – Kyra’s dad – joined in …

LOVE THIS.

Then, Caleb joined the group … what a fantastic family.

A brother and sister who CLEARLY love each other.   Is there anything better??

AND THAT’S JUST PART ONE.

Friends, you gotta come back for more – cause pics with Kyra’s boyfriend + date are up next  … stay tuned!!

Yes, this session was because of Karen’s Stage 4 cancer diagnosis – but we were having so much fun, it became less about that and more about just the family all being together.  I have had the privilege of doing a number of (what I like to call) “Sacred Sessions” – and I have found them to be so beautiful.  Many times, it’s the first time that everyone’s been together in a while – and it’s just so fantastic being for them to be with the people they love.   That is clear to me, every time.

But I wanted some time with just Karen.  I feel like she and I have a special bond.  For many years, we sat in the same spot – week after week – at our church.  We would hug and smile, and over the years – I grew to love Karen.  I watched her battle and beat her cancer diagnosis a few years back.  It was devastating to hear of it’s return – but she is a woman of dignity, of honesty and of “being real”.    She is living her journey admirably well.

I love this one …

Then – after our time together, I got each of her family members to join her for some private time with her on the bench.  First up, her husband of 30+ years … Perry.

They are beautiful together.

How he looks at her … so amazing.

Next up?  Her son – Mike.  This guy and I have a special bond too.    I think super highly of him – and won’t lie … I was pretty pumped to be able to hang with him and his family during this session.  And watching the connection he has with his mom … their love, undeniable.

… this one may be my fave from the entire session …

… there were real conversations happening.  I have no clue what they were talking about … but when this happened, I must admit – I was pretty darn curious.

… next, Sherilyn.  A mother and daughter moment that I think speaks volumes in black and white …

I love this one too …

This image was requested by Perry + Karen.  On their wedding day, they didn’t get “hand” pictures … so they asked for one.   I think it was a pretty great request, I’m glad I captured it for them.

Then, Karen asked for a few more with her sister, Lynne …

… and then, the session was over.

… but Sherilyn wasn’t QUITE finished lol.    I think this is a PERFECT photo to end this post with.  I mean, THIS is who the Moretons are.

Perry, Karen, Mike + Sherilyn … thank you.  What a huge honour to be asked to capture these moments for you.  I loved every single moment.  You are such a beautiful family.  Creative, witty, and full of love for each other.  May God continue to give you strength and peace as you walk this journey.  Much love to you all xx.

The GREATEST honour I get as a photographer, is being asked to capture families during difficult seasons. When Karen asked if I could do this session as they navigate through her Stage 4 cancer diagnosis … I said an emphatic “YES”.  These sessions tend to not be full of tears + anguish.  Often they are filled with laughter + new memories.  I am always honoured to be a part of them.

Meet … the Moreton family.

THEY are GREAT.

… and right from the word “go” – they were in full form.  Just being together brought around the most fun atmosphere.   Perry, Karen, Sherilyn and Michael … a family who knows how to love each other, and laugh together.  Even when life throws really hard circumstances.

Karen’s sister, Lynne, joined our session too … she clearly has no problem bringing more smiles to everyone’s faces.

I wanted to take this opportunity to capture all the different groupings.  I mean, when is it that a brother and sister get to have some pics done together?  I know that answer … not very often.

Father and daughter … Perry and Sherilyn.

Mother and daughter … Karen and Sherilyn.  Yes.  This session was about Karen’s diagnosis.  But then again – it wasn’t.  It was about celebrating all the beauty that this family IS.  I loved taking every single photo …

… one of my faves.

… such special, amazing moments.

Father and son … Perry and Michael.    I’ve known Mike for years, but had never met Perry.  Man oh man … as soon as I did, I felt like I had known him for years.  They.  Are.  Twins.

I LOVE THIS …

Mother and son … Karen and Michael …

Oh man.  I get this.  I love how she looks at her son … I know this love, a mother’s love.

oh my heart.

Then, it was sister time.  Lynne came and joined Karen in front of the camera.  But Lynne, just like the rest of the gang, was FULL of personality, full of ideas.  And her idea?  To have some fun music to have their photos taken to.  Her choice?  Linus + Lucy from The Peanuts.

Oh friends – that’s not it.  No way – there’s more to come!!  So stay tuned!!

A few weeks ago, I received an email from Nathalie about a family session … the weather had FINALLY turned, and my camera was itching.  So we met at Campbell Valley Park – and the whole family was ready to go … dogs and all lol.

Callum and Nathalie we so great – and their kids?  So easy to photograph with those super cute smiles …

We walked  around and stopped whenever we found a good new spot … which was, well, every two minutes or so LOL.

Little Ian was a gem for the camera …

And Emma?  OH MY GOODNESS.

I love getting shots with each child with each parent …

I mean, come on – how cute are they??

“Show me your muscles, Ian” I said.   And boy, did he ever!

With so many pics being taken – having a few minutes to run around is always good …

Oh my goodness — the look on Emma’s face as she ran …

… then there was the moment they found the caterpillar …

… and we were done.

WOW.  What a fun shoot!!

Callum + Nathalie … thank you for choosing RHP … I loved every minute working with you and your family.  I pray that these images bring you joy for a lifetime.
